FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How religious is this school?

There are hundreds of scriptures from the bible embedded in the elementary curriculum workbooks up to grade 6. We believe these scriptures paint a powerful picture of who God is and how children can find their identity in Him! We hire staff and missionaries both locally and around the world endeavouring to display love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control for children to imitate and form positive lifelong habits. Our junior and senior high curriculum  delivers courses from a biblical worldview culminating in a degree recognized by over 80 countries worldwide.  UCA strives to surround students with love, acceptance, forgiveness, and a safe place to occasionally make mistakes for healthy growth and maturity.

Do you have a dance program?

UCA has been asked to join other local schools and organizations to showcase our “Costa Rican” dances at the annual Independence Day Festival. This has proven to be a wonderful opportunity for boys and girls to express themselves, learn cooperation and teamwork, and appreciate the unique Costa Rican culture.

Are there sporting events and teams?

Many of our students are involved in local “football” or soccer teams competing with clubs from the area and throughout the country. Many of our students have been offered opportunities to play semi-professional or at the university level in North and South America. There are local pickleball clubs and surfing is always a draw as we are minutes from the beach.

How many students are in each class?

Daycare (3&4) → [10] Kindergarten → [5] Grades 1-3 → [11]                        Grades 4-6 → [11] Grades 7-12 → [25]

Is Uvita Christian Academy and MEP Certified school?

We are currently NOT a MEP Certified school, but we offer a pathway toward it. Many of our Costa Rican students have successfully earned their MEP Certification through our streamlined process partnering with local schools in grade 6, and advanced online and in-class Spanish instruction in our junior/senior high school rooms.

What is the ratio of expatriate children to Costa Rican children?

Just over half the student population is from expatriate families and just under half of the families represented are from Costa Rica.
